Tractors T 150 were created to work effectively on collective farms


The T-150 wheeled power tractor first left the assembly line of the Kharkov Tractor Plant in 1971. The original, initially unparalleled design, as well as the technical characteristics of the T-150k, made it possible to successfully apply it on the following agricultural works:

  • tillage (main, pre-sowing)
  • sowing operations in conjunction with wide-spread planting units,
  • loading and unloading operations with the use of additional attachments,
  • cleaning work in conjunction with high-performance special complexes,
  • participation in the preparation of various types of feed,
  • the implementation of transport.

The variety in the use of the tractor in agriculture provided the ability of wide aggregation with various specialized mounted, semi-mounted and trailed equipment (more than 50 items), as well as the ability to perform repairs in rural workshops.

T-150k tractor modifications

In addition to agriculture, the tractor was successfully used in industry, in road construction, in forestry. Considering such options of various operation, the following modifications of T-150k with the specified characteristics were developed and put into production at the plant:

  • The T 158 is an industrial variant, equipped with a special traction coupling device of the automobile type and was used to transport various cargoes weighing up to 20 tons with the help of trailers or semi-trailers.
  • The T 157 is a timber version, it was notable for high maneuverability, a special safety cage to protect the cabin and the presence of logging equipment for transporting sawed trees.
  • The T 156 is a front loader equipped with a mounted bucket with a lifting capacity of up to 3 tons. It is used for loading small-sized various materials and bulk cargoes into vehicles.
  • T-150KD is a general purpose version with the possibility of installing dozer equipment that allows you to perform work on the placement of soil and other materials at a distance not exceeding 100 meters. Bulldozer hitch allows you to use the T-150 in the winter for clearing roads from snow.

Design features and general technical parameters of the T-150k

In the construction scheme of the tractor, two half-frames are used: the front one, on which the engine, gearbox, cabin with the operator's workplace, tank and rear, where the mounted system is mounted for connecting the equipment, is located.

T-150 is characterized by the presence of all-wheel drive, while there is a function of technical shutdown of the rear axle. Both axles are equipped with the same wheels, which have high-quality technical characteristics, large diameter and width.

In the transmission device behind the power unit there is a sequential installation of the clutch, gearbox and transfer case. Further, the output shafts with the help of cardan gears and main gears arranged on them in a conical design, provide energy transportation to the front and rear axles of the tractor.

Differentials from main gears are connected to planetary mechanisms, on which tractor wheels with brake devices are mounted.

The transfer of torque from the engine to the power take-off shaft (PTO) is provided by a special shaft with intermediate supports. Turning and turning the tractor perform two hydraulic cylinders in the steering system, which deploy both semi-frames around the special vertical connecting joint.

Over the entire period of its production, the tractor was completed with the following diesel four-stroke turbo engines using water cooling:

Double cab option is mounted on the front half of the tractor T-150k, almost the center of gravity. Such an arrangement technically reduces its vibrations and vibrations. The transmission is made in a mechanical version. Its design includes the following elements:

The gearbox of the tractor T-150k is made using hydraulic control, it has the ability to switch the speed while driving. The transfer box allows division into ranges.

Advantages and disadvantages of the T-150k

  • low reliability of the T-150k gearbox and, as a consequence, the need for frequent repairs,
  • the lack of a hydraulic device for cooling the working fluid.

Development T-150K

Initially laid structural solutions, technical characteristics of the tractor T-150k, the ability to quickly repair allowed this model to operate successfully, go through several modifications, to be competitive at the present time.

The latter fact is confirmed by the continued production of this model at the Orel tractor-building plant, which is part of the Alfa-Tekhnik group of companies. In addition to the basic modification under the name OrTZ-150k, this plant produces eight more different vehicles (from a front-end loader to an airfield repair machine) made on the basis of this tractor.

The history of the creation of a popular model

However, let us return to the past, on November 25, 1983, the day when the HTZ produced a caterpillar modification of its most famous and most sought-after tractor. This, of course, is about the wheeled tractor T 150 K and its “caterpillar” incarnation. The difference of just one letter gave the country one of the most productive and efficient tracked agricultural units of the time.

Structurally, the new tractor, released a full 10 years after its wheeled counterpart, differed only in the chassis, suspension and gear shift nuances. In part, its appearance was the result of the growing need of farmers for a reliable all-terrain vehicle, which would have better performance, less harmful effect on fertile soils, would not be tamped and skidded. Since the T 150K was extremely popular at one time, it was only natural to assume that it would be the basis for the creative search for the engineers of the CTZ.

Soviet agro-industrialists caterpillar tractor T 150 liked. In 1991, components and equipment for it were produced by more than 57 machine-building enterprises of the Soviet Union, both in the civil and defense sectors.

During the forty-year history, as soon as this tractor was not modernized, there was also a T 150E - a caterpillar tractor with a raised leading sprocket and a maximally reduced bearing area of ​​the caterpillar tape, and a trial 2-link tractor, and an experimental model on rubber-metal tracks. But what is especially surprising, unlike their peers T 130, T 170, only T 150 continues its life and enjoys an enviable popularity in the XXI century. Main technical characteristics of the tractor

How much has the technical characteristics of the tractor changed in 40 years? The 1983 model was equipped with a diesel 4-stroke 6-cylinder turbocharged SMD-60 engine. Absolutely all tractors 2-6 traction classes, released in the USSR in the second half of the XX century, were starting engines. Engine power was quite noticeable - 150 horsepower at a crankshaft speed of up to 2000 rev / min.

Today the T 150 is equipped with a more powerful (up to 180 hp at 2100 rpm) Yaroslavl diesel 11.15 liter YaMZ-236D-3 engine. In the best traditions of its ancestor, the V-shaped design of the engine remained unchanged and transferred to a new model. Starting system - single-stage, from electric starter.

The first series of tractors was equipped with a mechanical hydraulically controlled transmission. Gear shifting was carried out using a friction dry single-plate clutch. In the role of the pressure device acted hydraulic cylinder. While driving, when the operator needed to change the gear, he squeezed out the clutch, which turned on the friction clutch of the next gear and only then switched off the clutch of the current gear. Depending on whether it was necessary to simply transport the tractor, use it as a tractor, or go into working mode, the T 150 tractor was equipped with a gearbox with three forward ranges and a single backward range. The double-flow gearbox opened up for the operator the ability to carry out a wide variety of maneuvers, since the gears for left-handed and right-handed tracks could be selected independently. However, in addition to such technical advantages as high drive reliability, reduction in the overall load, an increase in ground clearance of up to 30 cm, the double-flow gearbox made the tractor even more agile.

It was in this model of the tractor that a double way of turning was realized: kinematic turn when switching on different gears on each side and on-board - when the clutch was turned off from the lagging side. Earlier (in the period from 1964, when it was invented, and until 1983, when the tractor was released), the double turning method was used exclusively on tanks. What is characteristic, in the modern version, the transmission of the tractor T 150 has undergone only a small modernization, without changing structurally and retaining the two-stream gearbox.

Taking into account all these features, it is possible to say with confidence that the build quality and the level of comfort of the new, modern model of the T-150 tractor are struggling to match the European counterparts.

Description of the technical characteristics of the T-150

In addition, the operation of a crawler tractor is prohibited on general purpose roads with a hard asphalt concrete pavement, and the speed of movement of the T-150 is rather low.

No matter how much the tractor T-150 weighed, and it weighs a lot, in any case there will be increased wear on the track chain, which is also a disadvantage of this technique.

Through the use of such a unit, engineering and construction works are carried out, and also towing of non-self-propelled artillery installations is carried out. The T-154 differs from the base model in the presence of a towing hook. The rear frame of the T-154 is somewhat lengthened, thanks to which the designers were able to place the cargo body.

Model T-156 is equipped with a bucket and is used for loading operations. There is also a modification of the T-150 D, which is characterized by the presence of a dozer blade. The tractor T-157 is used for logging operations.

Operator's cabin

The workplace is made in the form of a double all-metal cab, which is complemented by a safety cage. The cabin has a good tightness, installed heating and ventilation systems.

This model is practically no different from its fellow. The difference can be observed only in the chassis and transmission. The T-150K has a hinged-composite frame and two driving axles. An additional power take-off shaft (PTO) is included in the transmission scheme. It serves to transfer power to attachments. A well-designed hydraulic system provides the tractor with a lifting capacity of up to 3,500 kilograms. For installation of additional devices the two-and three-point mounting scheme is provided.

For the rest, the design of machines converges. But there are discrepancies in some specifications. For example, wheel tractor T-150K has a greater transport speed - 30 km / h.

This is due to the fact that the car was installed six-cylinder diesel SMD-62. The power plant gave out more power - 165 horsepower. A powerful engine required a commensurate fuel tank. Therefore, the designers have increased the volume to 375 liters.

The tractor could even be aggregated with wide-seeders and plows. The steering was more practical, which provided the car with good maneuverability.

Tracked tractor with lower engine power, gave more traction. At the same time, fuel consumption was significantly lower than that of the wheel version.

The wide caterpillar blade provided more reliable grip and reduced ground pressure. Thanks to this feature, the tractor received high marks from agronomists throughout the country.

Advantages and disadvantages

Machines of both modifications proved to be excellent when performing various jobs. Despite the fact that the specifics of the operation of tractors was significantly different, the equipment could organically complement each other.

Unlike most tractors of the Soviet era, the cars were completely free of oil leaks. The equipment usually developed the lifespan declared by the manufacturers, without major repairs. If there was a breakdown, then, as a rule, the fault of the tractor driver.

Not without deficiencies. Constructive flaws were available in both versions of the machines. For example, tracked T-150 could move in urban conditions only with the use of special overlays on tracks.

Despite the agricultural focus and high rates of traction power, the tractor practically could not work with wide-spread plows. This is the fault of the shortened base of the machine. When plowing, most of the plow is not used; it simply “sags” between the coupling and the furrow. Therefore, the quality of plowing leaves much to be desired.

The kinematic turn of the tractor did not justify itself either, and the steering requires some effort.

For the wheel T-150K the main disadvantage is the excessive fuel consumption. In addition, the machine severely damages the soil during agrotechnical work and slips on wet soil. It is worth noting that the wheel version is much more expensive than a tracked tractor. In this case, the performance is significantly less.

T-150K tractor device

The T-150K tractor has a front engine location just like the MTZ 892. There is a gearbox behind the engine (rigidly fixed) with a cabin with a fuel tank in the rear. The transmission has several modes (transport, working, traction (slow), reverse), in each of which 4 gears are switched (hydraulic couplings) without interrupting the flow of power (without stopping, in motion, under load). Planetary gears are used in final gears.

T-150K consists of two half-frames: the front one - with the engine, the gearbox and the cabin and the tank, and the rear one - with the hinged system for fastening the guns. Drive axles are the same, leading (rear axle switchable), with the same wide wheels of large diameter. This allows the tractor to be used as additional equipment for the Don 1500 combine.

Especially for the tractor T-150K was developed a diesel engine with a turbocharged SMD-60.
