Soak up the seed germination before planting. Usually, soaked seeds eggplants, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, - in a word, of many cultures. Proper soaking helps the seeds to germinate, and the wrong can and do much harm. Therefore, today we will understand what's what. We are happy to watch the Garden World channel on Youtube. It tells in simple language about difficult things, including the topics touched upon how to soak pepper seeds before planting. Check out the information. I'm sure it will be useful not only for us

What is soaked pepper seeds?

  • Wrongly soak the seeds by simply throwing them into a glass of water. In this case, the seeds sink or float in water. But they are living organisms, and for life, they also need air for germination.

Simple and effective soaking in water. The correct way to soak the seeds:

  • Fold the gauze in 2 or 4 times.
  • Wet gauze so that it becomes wet, even wet, because the seeds of the peppers are very dry.
  • Pour seeds on gauze and level.
  • Cover the seeds with gauze and place on a saucer.
  • There should be no water in the saucer. And so that the gauze does not dry out, it is placed in a plastic bag and make an air cap.
  • A saucer with seeds is placed in a warm place, but not to the battery and not to the battery.
  • Each variety must have its own rag, so they must be signed.
  • How much to soak? As a rule, after 3-5 days the first seedlings appear, which produce the strongest seeds.
  • The sunflower seeds are planted in a container, preferably with divided cells.

There are seeds that are treated with fungicides (growth promoters), this information is usually indicated on the package. They are sown dry, without soaking, directly into the cell for growing seedlings. The treated seeds have good germination without soaking.

But in potassium permanganate it is no longer recommended to disinfect seeds. It is also possible to germinate in ordinary water. And those seeds that will give the first seedlings are considered the best, the most powerful. Not germinated, feeble rejected or planted. Happens, and from them the sense can leave.

By the way. It is impossible to reject poor-quality pepper seeds with the help of salted water, because everyone is equally light.

What else can be soaked pepper seeds? But in the manual "Encyclopedia of country life given such ways to soak the seeds before planting. It is indicated that for eggplants and peppers they are the same:

Disinfection in potassium permanganate. Prepare a 1% solution of potassium permanganate, dip the seeds into it and soak for 20 minutes.

Disinfection in hydrogen peroxide. Seeds are dipped in 2% hydrogen peroxide solution for 5 minutes.

After the disinfection procedure, the seeds are thoroughly washed in running water.

Soaking in fertilizer solution. In 1 liter of warm water dissolve 2 tbsp. spoon ash. Seeds are placed in fabric bags and placed in the prepared solution for 24 hours. Then the bags are removed from the solution, slightly moistened with clean water and put on a saucer. It is placed in a warm place (temperature is about 25 degrees) for 1-2 days, until the seeds turn.

At the stage of presowing treatment, the seeds are also heated in a drying cabinet and hardened. Pre-sowing seed treatment allows you to get the first shoots the next day after sowing, and the maximum number of seeds germinates by 5-6 days.

Soak pepper seeds?

Pepper Seed Soaking, sprouting them in a humid environment helps to identify strong specimens and discard feeble ones. After all, we need high-quality shoots and a rich harvest. So do not be lazy, soak. It is very simple, and most importantly - useful for seeds. After all, it is not for nothing that they say: “What you sow, you will reap 😉 You have a rich harvest!

What you need to know when growing peppers?

In the vegetable garden you can find a wide variety of vegetable crops. But among the most popular and favorite can be considered pepper. This is a thermophilic plant with a long maturity - from 150 to 200 days. Because of this feature, peppers are grown in a seedling manner.

When to sow pepper seeds? This question arises in many vegetable growers. The planting season is at the end of February. Such a race will help get vegetable products before the onset of the cold season. It should be noted that the seed material of this vegetable culture is covered with essential oils. This causes a rather long period of germination. It can last from twelve to eighteen days. Seeds are quite dry, so with long-term or improper storage, germination is significantly reduced and can be from fifty to seventy percent.

How to grow peppers from seeds?

Taking into account all the features of a thermophilic vegetable crop, in order to obtain good seedlings, it is necessary to treat with special attention to seed material. It is possible to produce sowing and unprocessed grains, however, pre-sowing seed treatment helps to obtain earlier and high-quality vegetable products. Neglecting simple and affordable tricks is undesirable.

The main methods of preparing seeds for sowing

Quite often, during the presowing preparation of seeds, mistakes are made. Seeds are heated, treated with disinfectant solutions, soaked in various growth stimulants without following certain rules. In this case, apply the wrong concentration of various solutions, violate the timing and temperature. And these are very important factors. As a result, the seeds lose their germination and do not germinate. An inexperienced gardener cannot understand why, after lengthy procedures, long-awaited shoots did not appear in the transfer boxes. Let's try to describe the whole process of the main methods of processing seed.

How to prepare pepper seeds for sowing? Where to begin?

Seed calibration

Seedlings are grown using the most varied seed. It can be own seeds or purchased. Seed quality is an important condition for future harvest. First of all, the whole seed is sorted, grades are determined and their storage periods are checked. If they exceed 5 years, seed is better not to use. Overdue seeds will certainly bring only disappointment. Even the techniques of processing and stimulating vitality will not help. Plants will be weak, or shoots will not appear at all.

After determining the total seed start calibration. When sorting seeds, large, intact seeds are selected that are the key to good and strong seedlings. Naturally, the visual control is not 100% able to determine the full-weight seeds. The next calibration step is sorting in saline. To make it you need:

  • 1 liter of water
  • 40 g of salt.

The resulting solution is well mixed and immersed in the seeds of pepper. After that, the liquid is stirred again. When this occurs, the calibration: the full-weighted seeds will sink to the bottom of the vessel, and the lungs will float. Calibrated seed is washed well with running water. This method allows you to select suitable for planting seeds.

Disinfection

How to prepare pepper seeds for sowing so that plants are less exposed to diseases? To do this, apply seed dressing. Prepare a 2% solution of potassium permanganate.

The disinfectant consists of the following components:

The resulting solution is quite concentrated and has almost black color. The processing time of pepper seeds is twenty minutes. This procedure is completed by qualitative washing of the seeds with running or prepared melt water. Then they are dried to a state of flowability.

Warming up

How to prepare pepper seeds for sowing using heat treatment? This technique involves placing the seeds in water heated to fifty degrees. Seeds are poured into tissue envelopes, which are dipped in heated liquid. To save the temperature of the water using a thermos. The processing time ranges from forty to fifty minutes.

Soaking pepper seeds before planting

This technique greatly enhances and accelerates the germination of seed. It is preferable to use rain or melt water. In the absence of one, tap water frozen in the freezer is used, which is used after thawing. This fluid is an excellent stimulator of the process of germinating seeds.

How much to soak pepper seeds? The procedure time depends on the rate of swelling of the material. Soak pepper seeds can be eighteen hours, while they are completely immersed in the liquid. Periodically replace it, and the seeds are mixed.

The use of biostimulants

Soak pepper seeds before planting with the use of biologically active substances, varieties of which exist quite a lot. Among the most common can be noted "Epin" and "Gumat." Processing time ranges from 10 to 12 hours. The solution is prepared from the calculation:

  • 200 ml of water
  • 2-3 drops of the drug.

You can also prepare a nutrient solution of the following composition:

  • 500 ml of water
  • 2 teaspoons ash,
  • 2 g of boric acid.

All components are dissolved in hot water. Use the drug after cooling. Processing time is 12 hours.

The use of such biological stimulants will allow to accelerate the germination of seeds. They also contribute to improving the sustainability of the grown planting material to adverse weather conditions and diseases. Quite often, aloe juice is used as a nutrient. It is also a good biostimulator, which has similar properties with mineral analogues. It should be noted that the applied liquid must be at room temperature and not lower than twenty degrees Celsius. At lower temperatures, the method used will be ineffective. After the soaking procedure, the seeds should not be washed. They are slightly dried, and then sown in seedling tanks or proceed to the next stage of pre-sowing treatment.

How to sprout pepper seeds

For the germination of seeds will be necessary such components:

  • plastic or glass container
  • plastic bag,
  • gauze cut or rag flap,
  • swollen seeds.

Sprouting pepper seeds lasts until the sprout appears. Seeds are packaged in tissue envelopes and placed in containers. They are labeled with the type of pepper. Converters moisturize. Prepared containers are placed in plastic bags and put in a warm place. Sprouting pepper seeds is carried out at a temperature not lower than 25 degrees Celsius. Capacities are checked daily. You need to ensure that the envelopes are wet. Drying is not allowed. After the seeds have been sown, they are sown in seedlings.

How to sprout pepper seeds? How long will this stage last? In our case, the sowing of seeds can begin after the partial emergence of sprouts. You can also wait for the mass germination of seed. Usually this process takes from three to five days. This technique accelerates the emergence of pepper shoots for 5 days. After sowing, the first sprouts appear within two days.

In addition to the above techniques, you can use other equally effective methods of preplant preparation.

Bubbling

How to prepare pepper seeds for sowing, if valuable varieties have exceeded storage periods? Here the method of saturation of the seed with oxygen will come to the rescue. Reception is quite simple, but quite effective. He is able to reanimate valuable seeds. In this case, apply the compressor - equipment for aquariums. Seeds are placed in a container with water, the ratio of filling the vessel can withstand 1: 5. With the help of a compressor, the liquid will be saturated with oxygen. During processing, the seeds are periodically mixed. The whole process is from 24 to 36 hours. Complete the reception of drying seeds.

Useful tips

In our article, we told you about how to grow peppers from seeds, and also considered ways to process them. The application of the above methods will definitely contribute to obtaining fast and high-quality shoots. However, the listed procedures are not mandatory. As a rule, each vegetable grower applies this or that method or refuses this troublesome business altogether. If desired, you can use one or more techniques. Most often, seeds of unknown origin, the quality of which is in doubt, or seed of their own billet are processed. It should be noted that many manufacturers sell processed seeds. When purchasing such material, you should carefully examine the packaging on which this information will be indicated. In this case, you can restrict mechanical calibration.

Should pepper seeds be soaked before planting, and why do they do it?

Soak - the process itself is optional, the seed will germinate without it, and may even give an excellent harvest. This allows supporters of sowing without preparation to assert that soaking is an extra hassle.

Living in warm climatic conditions makes it possible to sow peppers at least immediately into the open ground, it will still be enough time for it to ripen. Residents of the temperate zones value every day, and if there is an opportunity to speed up the process and gain time before the finish, they readily use it, because the pepper ripened on the bush is much healthier and tastier than it came later. In moderate conditions, the seeds of pepper must be soaked, without this procedure, the fruit will not have time to ripen before the onset of frost.

However, summer residents - residents of warm edges, too, will not interfere with such a handicap: firstly, the harvest is more abundant, and secondly, it is pleasant when the pepper has ripened ahead of schedule. This applies to sweet and spicy varieties.

The advantages of soaking seed before planting:

  • allows you to win 7–10 days, as the shoots from the treated specimens appear on the 5–7th day, while the sown “dry” shoots up to 2 weeks,
  • makes it possible to select the strongest plants, providing them with immunity, high resistance to diseases and pests and giving the best conditions at the start.

The main stages of pepper seed preparation

Seed preparation begins at the acquisition stage. You need to carefully consider the manufacturer and carefully examine the information indicated on the package, choosing the characteristics of the variety you need. A self-respecting manufacturer indicates how it has been treated. Treated by the manufacturer and the coated seeds should not be subjected to any additional impact, they can only be sown in the ground. It should be noted that, although they will ascend a couple of weeks later, they will eventually catch up with their “relatives” and then overtake them, while they will suffer less from pests and diseases.

It is better to prefer the material of those manufacturers whose compliance with GOST is indicated on the packaging - it is more reliable.

The package should not be any mechanical damage. It is imperative to pay attention to the year of collection of raw materials and the deadline for sowing - this information must be present without fail.

Seeds of pepper, planted in the second year after harvest, lose their germination and yield by half.

Pickling

Etching, or disinfection, is carried out in order to save the prepared raw materials from possible contamination by pathogens that can harm a future plant. At its core, this is disinfection.

Such processing is all the more relevant, the less reliable the source of raw materials. The material of a large company with a reputation may not be subjected to dressing, especially if the package contains information that it has already been carried out. But personally collected, received from friends in exchange, and even more so the seeds bought on the market should certainly be etched.

To do this, use different drugs: potassium permanganate (potassium permanganate), hydrogen peroxide, vinegar, boric acid and even formalin, there are also special drugs that can be bought in the store. Each of these methods has both advantages and disadvantages, and the gardener chooses which one to give preference to.

Despite the fact that potassium permanganate is not so easy to find on sale, this technique remains the most popular: it has an unlimited shelf life, and bought a lot of years ago or on the occasion of a bubble lasts for a very long time.

Some methods of seed dressing:

  • Potassium permanganate In dark pink 1% solution, seeds are preliminarily soaked in warm water for 2–4 hours, which, for convenience, can be placed in a gauze bag and left for 15 minutes, then immediately washed thoroughly under running water and immediately sown or laid out on paper to dry.

  • Hydrogen peroxide. The disinfection solution requires 2–3%, while it must be warmed up to 38–40 ° C without fail. Maintain seeds for no more than 7 minutes, rinse thoroughly.
  • Boric acid. The drug is diluted at the rate of half a teaspoon of acid in a glass of water. The solution temperature is 25–30 ° C, the treatment time is 2–3 hours.

  • Phytosporin. It is a commercial product containing natural bacteria and fighting against pathogens. It is diluted at the rate of 4 drops from an eye dropper on a glass of water.

Disinfected raw materials can not be stored for longer than a day, it is desirable to immediately plant or begin to germinate.

Processing with microelements and growth stimulants

Processing with micronutrients and growth regulators is necessary in order to have a positive impact on the quality of seedlings and germination, increase resistance to negative effects and resistance to rapid temperature changes, as well as increase yields.

To enrich the seed using infusion of ash, aloe juice, as well as purchased drugs "Epin", "Zircon", "Ivin" and others.

  • This technique is used only after disinfection, but in no case before it.
  • Dissolve trace elements in hot water at 40–45 ° C, and the seed should be placed in the solution cooled to warm condition.
  • It is possible to subject raw materials to processing by growth stimulators only once and only by one preparation.
  • It is necessary to strictly observe the rules of preparation of the solution and the time of aging in it so as not to cause harm.
If the seeds are soaked in warm water for 2–3 hours before the procedure, they will become more susceptible to the effects and penetration of substances under their shell.

Several variants of solutions for the enrichment of seeds with microelements:

Wood ash. It contains about 30 elements that will be useful to the plant. It is necessary to harvest the ashes in the fall, carefully sift and fold into a dry, hermetically closed jar. In 1 liter of hot water dissolve 2 tablespoons of ash and, stirring, insist day. During this time, it is advisable to stir the solution another 2-3 times. The seeds put in a gauze bag are immersed in the solution and kept for 3 hours.

Aloe juice Processing the material with this substance, you not only enrich it, improve germination and strengthen seedlings, but also pickle. Thus, this procedure also includes decontamination. The aloe plant, which is more than 3 years old, needs to cut a couple of lower leaves and, wrapping it in paper, put it in the refrigerator for at least a week. Then the leaves need to chop, get the juice out of them and, diluting it in equal proportions with water at room temperature, put the seeds in the bags. Sustain relies from 6 to 18 hours.

  • Shop preparations. Using them, you need to follow the recommendations of the instructions.
  • Hardening planting material

It makes sense to harden the seeds, if there is an intention to sow them under the film a week ahead of schedule. If quenching is used for seed in seedlings, then the seedlings themselves will need to be hardened for quite a long time.

Hardened and heated seeds are subjected to quenching. They are soaked before swelling in warm water, mixed with sand or wet sawdust and kept for three days at a temperature of 20-25 ° C, ensuring that the water does not evaporate completely and the material does not dry out. After that, they are placed in a fridge or taken out on the street and kept for three more days at a temperature of about zero.

Sawdust used for the hardening process should be boiled for 2–3 minutes, river sand should be calcined in the oven.

Careful preparation of seed material will be fully paid for by early strong and amicable shoots that are resistant to the negative impact, and, most importantly, a bountiful harvest obtained in the shortest possible time.

    Seed calibration

The first stage of preparation for planting sweet peppers is selection of suitable seed. It is important to single out filled out of the total amount, discarding hollow, small and too large seeds. Medium sized seed is most suitable..

Calibration of seeds can be done using saline solution, which consists of 40 grams of salt and a liter of warm water. In the resulting solution put seed for a few minutes, choose the remaining water on the surface and dispose of them. High-quality seeds will be at the bottom, they must be well washed and dried on a paper towel.

The separation of the filled seeds from the empty ones is carried out before the direct planting..

    The use of growth stimulants

Due to the treatment of seeds of sweet pepper with a growth stimulator, the chance of their emergence and development increases. A proven stimulant is nettle infusion, which is prepared at the rate of a spoon of a plant into a glass of boiling water.

Soak the seed can be in such preparations as "Zircon", "Epin-Extra" and other stimulants, following the instructions.

    Seed selection

If you bought seeds of peppers, you must sort them out. Prepare 3-4% saline solution (30-40 g of salt per liter of water). Dip the seeds in there, mix and leave for seven minutes. This procedure helps to get rid of weak seeds - they will float. Seeds of good quality will fall to the bottom of the dishes with saline solution, so take them for sowing, the seedlings will be friendly and healthy. Remove good seeds, rinse thoroughly in clean water several times, scatter on paper and dry.

    Seed treatment

To protect future seedlings from fungi and microbes, it is desirable to conduct a special pre-sowing treatment of seeds. After sorting by size, they must be pickled in a solution of potassium permanganate. To do this, prepare 1% solution of potassium permanganate and immerse the seeds in it for 10-15 minutes. Then they should be washed with running water and dried on paper.

    Plant nutrition

Two days before sowing, it is necessary to saturate the seeds with microelements in order to improve the germination and resistance to diseases. You need small gauze bags in which you will need to decompose the seeds and lower them into the nutrient solution with trace elements for a day. Then pull out the seeds and dry without rinsing.

There is a cheaper and no less effective way of presowing feeding seeds for seedlings. It is a top dressing of wood ash, which contains almost 30 trace elements and nutrients that are useful for pepper seeds. In order to saturate them with vital nutrition, it is necessary to prepare a special solution, for which 2 g of ash should be stirred in a liter of warm water and left for 24 hours with occasional agitation of the liquid. In the ready solution, lower the seeds for three hours in a gauze bag, after which they should be washed and dried.

A quick way to germinate seeds

If you can not wait to see the shoots of pepper, we offer the fastest way to germinate their seeds. After disinfection in a solution of potassium permanganate, they should be spread on gauze, slightly moistened with a spray gun and put in a warm place with an air temperature not lower than 25 ° C. Within a day, the seeds of the peppers will germinate, so they will immediately have to be sown. When sowing, pay attention to soil moisture. If it is dry - you can not start a procedure with the germination of seeds in seedlings - they still die in dry ground. The soil should only be wet!

    How to achieve maximum results?

Do you want to know the most effective option of seed treatment before sowing seedlings, what and when to soak in order to get the fastest possible shoots? This bubbling, which is carried out for 7-14 days before sowing. How to make a soak before planting correctly? To do this, you will need high dishes, which need to be filled with warm (20-22 ° C) water by two thirds.

At the bottom of the tank will have to dip the tip of the compressor for the aquarium. As soon as there are bubbles in the water, you need to lower the seeds of the peppers there. Air should flow uniformly throughout the tank. When should the process be terminated? After a day and a half, seeds can be obtained and dried in a dark place, but not under direct sunlight. Should pepper seed be soaked before planting? Of course, after all, competent soaking significantly increases the chances of germination and immunity to the pathogenic influence of the environment.

    Warm cold

To improve immunity, the seeds of peppers must be hardened by a special method. To do this, there are two time-tested options for hardening:

    • First, disinfect the seeds of the peppers with a solution of potassium permanganate. Then soak in warm water until swelling, and as soon as this happens, put on 24-36 hours in the cold at a temperature of -1-2 ° C. It remains to dry and seed is completely ready for planting.
    • The second method is a bit more complicated. After swelling, the seeds will have to undergo a “temperature soul” for 10–12 days. This means that for 12 hours they will have to be kept at a temperature of 2-6 ° C, and for the remaining 12 hours they should be placed in a warm environment (20-24 ° C).

With any method of hardening, you need to know that if you tighten it in time, the shoots will turn out to be overgrown, which is also not good.

    Conclusion

To get a good harvest of pepper, you have to work on its seeds. You will need to carry out the procedure of disinfection from pathogenic microorganisms, then saturate the seeds with useful substances. How can pre-sowing process be reduced before planting in open ground? After disinfection, the seed of pepper must be saturated with nutrients, as well as with microelements. What soak them before the seedlings?

Good results are obtained if you dunk them in the finished biostimulator "Epiné" of industrial production, a good result can be obtained by stimulating the growth of sunrises with the help of aloe at home. Why soak? This procedure awakens the seeds and causes a friendly seed shoot, during which you can additionally sort good shoots from the weak and sick. In any case, it depends only on your patience, punctuality and work, whether you get an excellent harvest of beautiful, juicy and large fruits of pepper in the summer!

Efficient processing of pepper seeds before planting seedlings

We, as a rule, start preparing the soil for seedlings in February and only after a couple of weeks we begin to plant, as it is better to prepare the seeds of pepper for sowing the day before. At home, the most affordable methods of treating seeds are the culling, disinfection, warming up, impregnation with biostimulants, soaking, germination, hardening and enrichment with oxygen (the so-called bubbling). All together, they are not needed, it is enough to choose a couple of ways.

    1. Rejection or sorting pepper seeds

From dense and heavy seeds grows the most powerful seedlings, as in these seeds more nutrients. Strong plants respond better to stress.

Sorting is done with saline - 1 tsp of salt is diluted in a glass of water, mixing the composition well for 3 minutes. Then the solution is set aside and allow it to stand for 10-15 minutes.

When soothers and trifles emerge in the solution, they are removed and set aside separately - all substandard seeds can be used as green manures. Pepper seeds that have settled to the bottom are taken to seedlings - this is the most comprehensive seed material. They need to be washed in running water and dried. But not on a heating radiator, but on a sieve or a napkin. If the culling is done on the eve of sowing, they can be planted the next day. But decide in advance with a pick or without you will grow, from this and the timing of planting depend on the preparation of sowing tanks and soil.

    3. Seed heating

This method is most often used by farmers who store a large amount of seeds in unheated premises. A month before sowing, the seeds are heated, gradually raising the temperature from 20 to 80 degrees. Summer residents often warm up the seeds on a heating radiator, putting paper bags on a fabric substrate (kitchen towel, rags) for a couple of days.

    5. Soak

When soaking, the seeds of the Bulgarian pepper are put in a gauze / cloth bag and dipped in warm water for 10-12 hours. Sacks every 4 hours removed from the tank to breathe, and at this time changing the water. It is possible not to take out, but simply to open the coverslip if soaked in a flat cup.

    6. Sprouting pepper seeds

To speed up the germination of pepper and to get an early harvest, summer residents resort to seed germination. This is usually done in a flat cup or saucer at room temperature of 20-25 degrees. Gauze or old cotton cloth is laid on the bottom, and moistened with settled water. Humidity is constantly maintained high, but full immersion of seeds in water is not allowed - the seeds will suffocate. When the sprouts appear, the seeds that are proklannuvshiesya planted on seedlings.

    7. Seed hardening

Peppers are a very thermophilic vegetable, and in order to adapt it to weather conditions, it is possible to conduct hardening. The seedlings of pepper from hardened seeds turn out to be more squat and are less stressed under slight temperature changes. Of course, she doesn’t like big drops. And the decrease in temperature to around 15 degrees makes the peppers depressed for a long time, they stop growing, the so-called stagnation occurs.

For quenching, germinated seeds should be placed at night on a northern window sill or in a hay. 8-10 hours for cheerfulness - the very thing, but the procedure must be repeated three times. Hardening temperature + 10-15 degrees.

    8. Oxygen enrichment

Sparge bubbling is our favorite way to stimulate pepper seeds. We combine it with the addition of a drop of Fitolavin or a spoon of compost from the cellar. Oh yeah, add a quarter spoon of old jam to the compost. The water temperature should be 20-25 degrees room temperature, the aquarium compressor is set for 10-12 hours. After the seeds are dried to flowability, they are immediately sown, and the bubbling is continued for another 12 hours. And we water indoor plants with this homegrown EM-solution - their greens and resistance to darkness (we have small windows, like embrasures) increase.

That is, in fact, all home-made methods of treating pepper seeds before planting on seedlings. They are not so small, you can easily find the right ones for your load. Some, as you understand, can be combined. For example, the pickling from fungi can be easily combined with soaking. And oxygen saturation - with stimulation or disinfection. The choice is yours.

What you need to soak the seeds

Unlike crops, the seeds of which wake up independently and very quickly: wheat, barley, pea - pepper does not have a high germination energy. Its seeds will peck unevenly and not all. As a result, the grower will receive uneven uneven-aged seedlings, with which it is inconvenient to work. Part of the seedlings, moreover, will almost certainly be affected by fungal and bacterial diseases. Therefore, there are three reasons and, respectively, technologies for pre-soaking pepper seeds:

    • in disinfecting solutions for disinfection,
    • in growth stimulants to speed up the awakening,
    • in the water for rejecting the weak and saving individual seedling containers.

Attention! Pepper has a negative attitude towards root-damaging picks, so for peeled shoots it is desirable to prepare peat cups or tablets.

    Seed soak for disinfection

The drug for the release of the shell of the seeds of pepper from bacteria and fungal spores are selected on the basis of price and availability. The most common use is ordinary potassium permanganate (a pale, slightly pink solution) and the microbiological preparation Fitosporin, which is excellent in suppressing the growth of fungi.

Soaking is convenient to produce in disposable plastic cups. Previously on the outer wall of each cup a piece of masking tape is glued, on which the name of the variety is written. Comparing the name on the package and on the cup, pour the seeds on the bottoms and completely fill them with the working solution of Fitosporin, which is prepared according to the instructions on the package.

Pepper seeds are kept in a disinfectant solution for about an hour, then washed. To do this, the solution from each cup is poured through a strainer, poured with a small amount of water, shaken and again poured.

The final stage - soaking seeds in water

The most important thing when soaking pepper seeds in water is to prevent them from rotting, since they will sprout more than one day. It is important to follow the rule: there should be no puddles in the germination tank.

The most convenient equipment for pre-soaking - cotton pads and plastic container from cakes. Drives are soaked with water and slightly pressed. Seeds are put on one disk, they are evenly distributed and covered with a second disk. The resulting "sandwich" lightly pressed down to wet cotton wool came into contact with the seeds, and put on the bottom of the container.

The filled container is placed in a bag-shirt, tied and hung in the bathroom near the towel dryer, which will provide heat and humidity. Daily design open and air 5-10 minutes.

Attention! Seedlings need to be transplanted into peat tablets as soon as the roots appear. Otherwise, they will grow into cotton wool fibers.

Soaking seeds is a desirable procedure when growing peppers. It allows you to get an early and strong crop with a minimum consumption of individual rassadnyh containers.
